What is the Work-based Learning Institute (WBLI)?

The Institute is a half-day professional development event designed specifically for youth workforce providers. Our goal is to share best practices, facilitate networking, and explore innovative strategies for connecting youth to meaningful career pathways.

Who should attend?

While this program is designed specifically for C2L-PHL providers and employers, we welcome any organizations and individuals who are part of workforce development initiatives and looking to expand their impact.

Where is the event located?

The institute will be held at the University of Pennsylvania campus. Registration and the opening session will take place in the Bodek Lounge in Houston Hall, located at 3417 Spruce Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

Is there a cost to attend?

No, the event is free to attend. Registration includes access to all workshops, the exhibitor hall, and lunch. Please note that parking and transportation are not included and may require additional fees.

How do I choose my breakout sessions?

There are two breakout blocks during the day, each offering five different workshops. You will be asked to select your preferences during the online registration process. This helps us ensure adequate seating for each session.

Where can I park?

Street parking around campus is very limited and often has a time restriction. We recommend using the Walnut 38 Garage at the corner of 38th and Walnut Streets. Please note that parking is at the attendee’s expense. https://facilities.upenn.edu/maps/locations/parking-garage-119-s-38th-street

Is it accessible by public transit?

Yes! Houston Hall is conveniently located near several SEPTA (www.septa.org) trolley lines, bus, the Market-Frankford Line (34th St Station) and LUCY (Loop through University City) (www.universitycity.org/lucy) bus stops.

Is the venue accessible?

Yes. All sessions are held in ADA-compliant spaces. The primary accessible entrance to Houston Hall is located at the rear of the building off the Perelman Quadrangle. If you have specific accessibility needs, please let us know during the registration process.

What should I bring?

We recommend bringing a notepad or tablet for notes and plenty of business cards! You’ll have multiple opportunities to network with peers, employers, and community partners throughout the day.

Will meals be provided?

We’ve got you covered! We will provide complimentary beverages in the morning and a boxed lunch in the afternoon.

What if I have dietary restrictions?

Please indicate any allergies or dietary restrictions on the registration form. For additional needs, there is a food court located on the ground level of Houston Hall and several other dining options within a two-block walk.
